Sign up for Jury Service Reminder Texts
The Alaska Court System offers jury service reminders through text messaging. Sign up when you fill out your questionnaire online or directly with your mobile device. To sign up with your mobile device, follow the instructions below.
If you have any difficulties or questions, see Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) or contact your local court.
- Jury Service Reminders provided by the Alaska Court System are courtesy reminders only. If you do not receive the text message reminder for any reason, it is still your responsibility to call the recorded message or appear as instructed by your service reminder letter.
- The court system does not charge for this service. However, you may be charged by your phone carrier to send and receive text messages.
- Trial jurors summoned from the following courts are eligible to sign up for text message reminders: Anchorage, Bethel, Fairbanks, Juneau, Kenai, Ketchikan, Kodiak, Nome, Palmer, and Utqiagvik.
- All grand jurors may sign up for text message reminders.

► What are jury service text reminders?
The Alaska Court System offers jury service reminders through text messaging. The court system will not charge you any money to use our courtesy service. However, your phone carrier may charge you money to send and receive text messages. These are examples of the types of messages you can expect:
- Initial text: Hello, [Juror Name], this is the Alaska Court System. You have signed up to receive jury service reminders at this number. Reply YES to confirm, STOP to cancel, HELP for support.
- Confirmation text: Sounds good. You will receive a text reminder from the Alaska Court System with instructions the Friday before your jury service begins. Reply YES to confirm, STOP to cancel, HELP for support.
- Reminder text: Courtesy reminder from the Alaska Court System: Your jury service begins next week in [court location] for the [term name]. Please call the recorded message [date] after 5:00 p.m. and follow the instructions for your service number. Your service number is [service number]. Visit https://courts.alaska.gov/jury/ to access your jury dashboard and check in for your jury service.
► When will I receive my Jury Service Reminder?
Trial jurors receive a reminder the Friday before their service begins. Grand jurors receive a reminder the day before they are scheduled to appear.
► I signed up for a Jury Service Reminder and then I rescheduled my jury service. Do I need to sign up again?
No, you do not need to sign up again, your sign-up will carry over to your new term.
► Can I sign up for Jury Service Reminders for more than one juror at the same time?
No, multiple Jury Service Reminders to the same phone number are not supported at this time.
► Can more than one person receive Jury Service Reminders for the same juror?
Yes, more than one phone number may sign up for the same Jury Service Reminder at the same time.
► I don’t remember if I have signed up for a jury service reminder. How do I find out if I have?
Text STATUS to 1-307-317-4409, if you have successfully signed up for reminders, you will receive a message similar to this:
- You signed up for Jury Service reminders. You will receive a reminder to call the jury recording the Friday before your term begins. Visit the Jury Service page (courts.alaska.gov/jury/) for more information. – Alaska Court System.
► Can I sign up to be reminded of my jury service every day?
No, reminders are sent only once.
► I signed up for a Jury Service Reminder, but I was never reminded of my service and I did not show up for my jury service. Will I be excused because your system did not remind me?
No, the Jury Service Reminder is a courtesy service only. You are ultimately responsible for showing up for jury selection if your service number is called to appear.
► Can I cancel jury text messages after signing up?
Yes, you can cancel the text message service at any time just text "STOP" to +13073174409. We will then send you a text message to confirm that you have been unsubscribed. After this, you will no longer receive text messages from us. If you want to sign up for jury service reminders text again, text “START” to +13073174409.
► I am sending text messages to your phone number, but I am not getting any responses back. What might be the issue?
Pay careful attention to how you format the phone number when sending text messages. If using "1 307 317 4409 " or " 1-307-317-4409 ", try putting a plus sign (+) in front of the number: "+1-307-317-4409 " or even using the condensed form of this number: "+13073174409 ".
If you continue to experience issues, please call your local court and report it to a jury clerk so we can try to resolve the issue.
► I am sending text messages to your phone number using the format “+13073174409 ", but I am still not getting any responses back. What might be the issue?
It's possible that our message carrier considers your phone number to be blacklisted from receiving texts due to the use of the words CANCEL, STOP, etc.
Please send the word START to +13073174409 to remove yourself from any possible blacklist, and this issue may resolve.
► How can I permanently remove myself from receiving text messages from your jury alert system?
Text REMOVE to +13073174409 to remove yourself from any future Jury Service reminders.
If you wish to permanently stop communication with our reminder service, text the word STOP and our message carrier will block us from sending any form of text messages to you. If you wish to receive further communication from us, reply START to remove yourself from our blacklist.
► I accidentally texted one of STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, BLOCK, or QUIT to your phone number and I am no longer receiving texts, despite me sending texts to you. What might be the issue?
Texting one of STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, BLOCK, or QUIT to our phone number will trigger a blacklist from our carrier. Please see Twilio's web page for more information: https://support.twilio.com/hc/en-us/articles/223134027-Twilio-support-for-opt-out-keywords-SMS-STOP-filtering-
To remove yourself from the blacklist, text one of START, YES or UNSTOP and our service to you will resume.
► I texted HELP or INFO to your phone number, but the messages coming back to me are unhelpful. Can you fix this?

► I am texting you my last name and Juror Summons Number and am getting "Can't find your Jury Service information." as a response. What might be the issue?
The last name you text with your summons number must match the last name we have for you in our system. Be sure you use the last name as it was printed on the Jury Summons postcard mailed to you. If you corrected your last name when you completed the jury questionnaire, use the name you provided to the court.
► I am texting you the exact last name and Juror Summons Number as printed on the postcard you sent me, but your system continues to reply "Can't find your Jury Service information." What might be the issue?
Please call your local court to speak to a clerk who may assist you further, the contact number for your court can be found on your Jury Summons postcard or on the court’s directory page.
► Will I be charged any money to sign up and receive a Jury Service Reminder?
No, we will not charge you any money to use our courtesy service. However, your phone carrier may charge you money to send and receive SMS text messages.
► Is my communication with the Jury Service Reminder confidential and private?
No, we use a third-party text messaging service, Twilio, to send and receive texts. Your wireless carrier also has access to your text messages as well as the federal government.
If you are very concerned about your privacy while using our service, please do not sign up for a Jury Service Reminder.
However, we take your privacy seriously here at the Alaska Court System and our service is designed to give you only just enough information that you need to verify that you are signing up for your own Jury Service. No truly confidential information will be supplied to you or anyone over SMS text messaging.

Yes, we can send and receive text messages to and from almost anyone or almost anywhere in the world.
► What information will you collect from me by using the Jury Service Reminder?
We have access to and we log the following information when you send us a text message:
- Your phone number.
- Your phone carrier information such as what city, state, ZIP code, and country your phone is registered to.
- All communication you send to us.
