Decompressing Self-Executing and Zipped Files
Some files provided on the court's website are in one of two compressed formats:
self-executing, which end with a .exe extension, and zipped, which
end with a .zip extension.
Once you have downloaded the compressed file to your computer you'll need
to decompress or "extract" the documents.
- For self-executing files (.exe), follow the directions below.
- For zipped files (.zip) you will need to have a separate software
program such as PKZIP or WinZip on your computer in order to "unzip" the file.
Follow the instructions that come with your unzip program.
Windows95 and Higher Decompression Instructions
- Download the file.
- Select Start, Run and type the directory and file name of the compressed
file you downloaded in the Open box.
[Example: c:\spub0101.exe]
or
Select Browse to search for the file in your directories and double click
on it once you've found it,
or
Look for the file under the appropriate directory in My Computer and double
click on it once you've found it
- Enter a destination directory for the files in the Extract to: box and click
EXTRACT. The file will decompress and the individual opinions for the week
will appear in the directory you selected.
- Drag these files to your word processing directory or open them from your
word processing program.
Windows 3.x Decompression Instructions
- Download the file.
- Select File Manager from the Main group on your computer and double click
on the file you downloaded.
[Example: c:\spub0101.exe]
The file will decompress and the individual opinions for the week will appear
in the directory you selected.
- Drag these files to your word processing directory or open them from your
word processing program.
DOS Decompression Instructions
- Download the file.
- At the DOS prompt type the file name of the file you downloaded, then type
a space, then type the directory where you'd like the deflated files to go.
[Example: c:\spub0112.exe\wpdocs]
- Exit DOS and open your word processing program.
